Types of Fragrances

Another fragrance lesson from the wonderful Amanda Leigh Heinz 
Q: What are the 5 fragrance types?
A: Citrus, Floral, Oriental, Woods, and Chypre
Examples
CITRUS - Lemons, mandarins, oranges, bergamot oranges and grapefruit - distinctive, tangy aroma.

FLORALS
Largest/most diverse in women’s fragrances. Floral notes are used in almost all women’s fragrances and are the foundation of most perfumes. Many sub-categories: white florals, rose
florals, green florals, etc.

ORIENTALS
Warm, sensual and exotic, blend of opulent flowers with warm spices and woods.

WOODS
Based on notes such as sandalwood, cedar wood, patchouli and vetiver. Most are complemented with other notes, such as floral and fruity accents, to create a more complete and balanced fragrance.

CHYPRE
Chypre is the French name for the Island of Cyprus, where the
predominant ingredients in this category were originated. They
are primarily oak moss and certain woods.



Q: What are the three types of fragrances and what order of concentration from lightest to most concentrated?
A:A fragrance mist is the lightest form of fragrance
 Eau de toilette next 
Perfume the most concentrated.    --Toveh Seibel

Q: How can you make the scent last longer?
A: Layer it with a scented lotion or body wash --Eileen Anderson
personally I recommend applying the cream or lotion right after a shower to also have the added bonus of fully moisturized skin --Toveh Seibel
